Terms of Service
anacraft is free, open-source software provided as-is under the Apache License 2.0. Use it on analytics data you are entitled to see, follow Google's rules while you do, and accept that a volunteer-maintained dashboard carries no warranty. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Studios; this project is affiliated with neither Mojang, Microsoft, nor Google.
01Agreement
These terms cover your use of the anacraft program, its source repository, and this website. Installing or running anacraft means you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use it — and, this being open source, you remain free to fork it under the terms of its licence.
02Licence
anacraft is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. That licence is what grants your rights to use, modify, and redistribute the software, and it prevails wherever it and these terms disagree. Nothing here takes away a right the Apache licence gives you.
03What you bring
- A Google account with access to at least one Google Analytics 4 property.
- The authority to view that property's data. anacraft shows you only what Google already permits your account to see; it grants no access of its own and circumvents nothing.
Ensuring your use of the data you view is lawful and permitted by whoever owns it is your responsibility, not ours.
04Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use anacraft to reach analytics data you are not authorised to see;
- use it in any way that breaches the Google Terms of Service, the Google Analytics Terms of Service, or the Google APIs Terms of Service;
- extract the bundled OAuth client credentials for use in other software, or present another application as though it were anacraft;
- work around API quotas or rate limits, including by distributing modified builds that do so while still identifying themselves as anacraft.
05The bundled OAuth client
Official releases include an OAuth client so that login works the moment you install. It is a convenience, not a guarantee: it is shared by everyone running an official build, it is subject to Google's per-project quotas, and it may be rate-limited, rotated, or revoked at any time without notice — including if it is abused.
If anacraft matters to your workflow, register your own Google Cloud project and supply your own
client through ANACRAFT_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID and ANACRAFT_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET, or
through ~/.anacraft/client.json. Doing so also insulates you from other people's quota
consumption.
06No warranty
As stated in section 7 of the Apache licence, anacraft is provided "as is", without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express or implied.
In practical terms: figures may be delayed, sampled, rounded, or simply wrong — through API quirks, network failures, exhausted quota, a bug here, or a change at Google. Do not treat anacraft as a system of record. Verify anything consequential in the Google Analytics interface before acting on it.
07Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, and as set out in section 8 of the Apache licence, the maintainers and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of anacraft — including lost profits, lost or corrupted data, business interruption, or decisions taken on the strength of figures it displayed.
08Third-party services
anacraft is a client for Google's APIs and depends on them entirely. Your use of those APIs is governed by Google's own terms, and Google may change, restrict, meter, or withdraw them at any time. We have no control over that and are not responsible for it. If Google's APIs stop serving your property, anacraft stops showing it.
09Trademarks and affiliation
anacraft is an independent open-source project.
- Google, Google Analytics, and GA4 are trademarks of Google LLC. anacraft is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or certified by Google.
- Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Studios, part of Microsoft. anacraft is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang Studios or Microsoft. Its look is an original homage drawn entirely with Unicode block characters — no Minecraft artwork, textures, sounds, fonts, or code are included or distributed.
10Changes to these terms
These terms may be revised. The date above will change with them and the full history remains public in the repository. Continuing to use anacraft after a revision means accepting the revised terms.
